I thought I would share a project from my studying days.
I wanted to create a card game that was simple and fun to play as well as teaching the players to look at typography more closely and learn the difference between the various characteristics, families and classifications.
The full alphabet represents a typography classification (ie. serif, sans serif, calligraphy, blackletter), then there are font families within each classification. The aim of the game is a simple matching system. You can either match the same letters of each alphabet (ie. Letter A's), match each classification (ie. Serifs) or match the font families within each classification (ie. Gill Sans in Sans Serif).
Each card has text relating to the history of how each alphabet letter was formed and created and I also made my favourite looking ones into posters.
