So I was inspired by the gorgeousness that is my new little niece. I wanted to make something for her that was my own creation and something that she could have for a long time. I decided to create a pattern, print it on fabric and make cushions and a blanket for her (using my new sewing machine that I got!).
I had recently been looking at hot air balloons so I went with this theme as I think they are really cute and had already done some sketches that thought could work as the beginnings of a pattern. I also worked with some watercolours and combined it all using photoshop and illustrator.
When I was finally happy with the outcome I found a place to get it printed. I searched a few places and then decided to give
Frankie and Swiss a go. They are a boutique textile printing and design studio and they did a great job for me as well as being super friendly.
Above are some photos of my process, sketching, watercolours and sampling etc. I am really happy with the result, and my niece had better treasure these forever! I am going to add this pattern into my growing collection so please let me know your thoughts on the design.
